episode during the first season of the popular WB television series, One
Tree Hill.
In "Suddenly Everything Has Changed", as Karen (Moira Kelly) tries
to fit back into her life in Tree Hill (after being in Italy for six weeks),
things begin to unravel for everyone else. As Nathan (James Lafferty) and Haley
(Bethany Joy Lenz) continue to grow closer, Dan (Paul Johannson) and Deb (Barbara
Alyn Woods) are constantly putting Nathan in the middle of their messy divorce
proceedings, forcing him to make a difficult choice. Meanwhile, after his near-death
experience, Lucas (Chad Michael Murrary) decides to end things with Brooke (Sophia
Bush) and make things right with Peyton (Hilarie Burton). Yet, after a relapse
rushes him back to the hospital, Peyton realizes she wants to be a good friend,
while Brooke finally discovers their betrayal. This episode remains a major
turning point during the spectacular first season, which also features a performance
by Bethany Joy Lenz as her character privately serenades Nathan with Sarah McLachlan's
"Elsewhere".
